My Little Kindergartener
We both had butterflies in our tummy as we walked through the big double doors. But she didn’t even look back when the teacher lead her away to work with her while I went through the registration process. She took the teacher’s hand and skipped right down the hall.
I finished up before she did, so I sat in the hallway and inhaled that familiar school smell as I tried to imagine what she was doing with the teacher. Talking about cats, probably.
On the way home, she told me about the testing and the tour. “I read some words... I circled shapes... I. Even. Did. Math.”
When I asked what her favorite part was, she said that it was the library. They had a cat section. It was only one book, she said. But still. Cats!
She’s been talking about it all day. Asking questions. Playing school. Planning.
